Job purpose:

The Science Center at Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village is a place for students to learn STEM (science,
technology, engineering & Math) through hands on experience. The goal of the Science Center is to
create fun and engaging activities that will excite the students about sciences. Students work on
projects like single digit calculators and building telescopes. Students are encouraged to ask their own
questions about science and are guided to solving them on their own. The Science center is a place for
the students to explore their scientific interests and develop critical thinking skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

o Developing curriculum for fun and exciting marketable science-based projects in the fields of
Electronics
o Guiding students with a hands-on approach to completing projects.
o Attending bi-monthly team meetings.
o Reporting successes and challenges to science center coordinator.
o The trainers of the science center encourage the students to ask questions about science and
lead them on a path to discovering the answers on their own.
o The trainers are the vessel by which the science center program is delivered to the students.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
o Bachelor degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering
o At least 3 years of working experience in the field
o Enjoy spending time with youth and educating them
o Have a “forward vision”, i.e. always thinking about new projects and improving their personal
performance.
o Should be able to guide students instead of lecturing them
