Warehouse and Logistics Intern

University of Global Health Equity (UGHE) Butaro, Rwanda

Job Title: Warehouse & Logistics Intern

Reports to: Warehouse & Logistics Coordinator

Location: UGHE Butaro Campus

Position Overview
Under the general supervision of the Warehouse & Logistics Coordinator (WLC), the Logistics Intern will provide support for the day-to-day operations of the warehouse and overall logistical needs on campus.

The Logistics Intern will be responsible for ensuring that the inventory is processed, organized, and stored according to the standard operating procedures. The Logistics Intern will also pick, package, fill in delivery forms, and distribute orders throughout campus.
Overall Responsibilities

  • Leading up to the campus interim phase II opening, the Logistics Intern will be responsible for the following:
  • Assisting in the set-up of UGHE’s new houses
  •  Providing support for all incoming shipments and relevant logistics both international and local shipments
  •  Assisting the Warehouse and logistics team with all final procurement and necessary logistics for the UGHE’s new houses outfit and operations.

Day-to-Day Warehouse Operations:

  • Pack, stock, organize and arrange products in warehouse
  • Update stock cards daily after each delivery
  • Ensure stock is prepared for distribution in a timely manner
  • Ensure all stock received into the warehouse is inventoried and packed in the allocated areas
  • Ensure all materials from suppliers are correctly received against the purchase order
  •  Ensure housekeeping is maintained as required by safety standards
  • Be responsible for overall warehouse and smooth operations throughout the service building
  • Coordinate delivering/loading of goods
  • Ensure the correct quantities and product code have been loaded for delivery
  • Deliver goods throughout campus
  • Assist in overall campus logistics as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, operations, procurement, and logistics or any other related program, or current student in above programs.
  •  Willing to live in Butaro full-time (including weekends) is required
  • English and Kinyarwanda proficiency required
  •  Ability to work with minimum supervision and take initiative; must be a quick learner, able to multi-task, and easily adapt to changing circumstances
  •  Advanced organizational skills and capacity to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines with attention to detail and quality
  • Ability to effectively work on a team in a complex, fast-paced environment
  • Computer skills in word processing, database, and spreadsheet programs
  •  Exceptional interpersonal skills including the ability to interact professionally with culturally diverse staff, partners
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  •  Assist the WLA in other administrative tasks that might be assigned
