The Role
The Senior Finance and Administrative Officer will support the babyl mission by engaging in activities along with support for audit, budget, and year-end preparation. This position will respond to general department inquiries, provide administrative and accounting support, and coordinate designated projects designed to strengthen the finance and accounting functions.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure that accurate entry are passed in NetSuite etc
- Daily transaction analysis and accounting entries in the accounting system;
- Ensure compliance with group policies and procedures;
- Monitor bank transactions and ensure that funds are properly managed;
- Assist management in administrative duties such as banking and mobile money processing;
- Prepare monthly payroll for review;
- Vendors bill payments, monitoring general expenses and petty cash for the organization;
- Invoicing clients and processing payments;
- Monitor and evaluate financial and budgetary performance;
- Timely prepare bank reconciliations for review by the supervisor;
- Ensure that the chart of accounts is respected and appropriate entries are passed all the time;
- Ensure that appropriate segregation of duties is in place and controls are working;
- Review of the fixed asset register to ensure it is updated and coordinate the asset disposal process;
- Tax declaration: VAT, withholding taxes, CIT, PAYE, RSSB contributions;
- Assist in the preparation of monthly flash reports and periodic financial reports;
- Assist in the preparation of annual financial statements;
- Provision of information to external auditors;
- Conduct necessary financial analysis, business plans, presentations for a future projection of the company;
- Ensure adherence to relevant laws and regulations or compliance documentation;
- Maintain relationships with service providers including insurance companies, banking institutions, and other vendors;
Requirements:
- At least 3 years proven financial or accountant experience
- An understanding of financial trends both within the company and general market patterns
- Proficient user of finance software
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
- Able to manage, guide and lead employees to ensure appropriate financial processes are being used
- A solid understanding of financial statistics and accounting principles
- Working knowledge of all statutory legislation and regulations
- BS degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics
- Professional qualification such as CFA/CPA or similar will be considered a plus
