JOB OPPORTUNITY

Project Facilitator for Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) project.

 World Vision Rwanda is a child-focused Christian humanitarian organization implementing development programs in 28 Districts of Rwanda.

World Vision Rwanda seeks to hire a highly qualified, dedicated and experienced national for the position of Project FacilitatorThe position will be based in Nyagatare District, reporting to the Project Manager.

Purpose of the position:

Facilitate the implementation of Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) project activities in Nyagatare District and ensuring that program operations are effective and sustainable in keeping with the standards of agreed World Vision (WV) ministry policies. The FLR Project Facilitator will insure the implementation of FLR Project activities and their integration within covered WV Clusters.

Planning, coordination and implementation

 

  •   Responsible for FLR project planning and implementation in the district
  • Coordinate community mobilization and sensitization on FLR, Agro-forestry and Environment Conservation,
  •  Plan, coordinate and monitor field level training of selected project stakeholders and beneficiaries,
  •  Conduct regular field visits, according to a calendar to be agreed with the Project Manager, to monitor the progress of  extension agents’ activities, using and adapting appropriate monitoring tools and guidelines agreed upon with the PM;
  •  Provide regular documentation of field activities,
  • Develop FLR related Income Generating activities with selected CBOs implementing Forest Landscape Restoration,
  • Assist support and monitor the establishment of Voluntary Saving and Loan Groups and other beneficiary groups in the operational area,
  •  Participate in Implementation, monitoring of development projects in collaboration with other partners in the operational area
  •   Participate in Proposal Writing for Development projects and other Special projects
  •  Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly and annual reports and plans to the FLR Project Manager and Cluster Manager,
  •  Participate in community and other partners meetings

Increased trees on farm within project areas

Good collaboration between different stakeholders in the district and the project

Full alignment between project activities and the district activity plan regarding land restoration interventions

Selected schools benefit from the project

All project equipment are safely maintained

All equipment and devices are fully utilized

Regular communication and support to project beneficiaries (Farmers)

Capacity building

 

  • Coordinate all training and capacity building activities to farmers, farmer cooperatives and all partners in the district.
  • Capacity building in tree planting and sustainable management

Good quality tree seedlings are timely produced and distributed for planting.

Best practices regarding tree planting and management are practiced by project beneficiaries and farmers in the area.

Monitoring and Evaluation, Learning and reporting

 

  •  Coordinate all data collection activities
  • Ensure effective documentation of all the information related to the project successes, innovations and promising practices and disseminate through appropriate mechanisms.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports based on agreed formats

Regular reporting and quality data available as per agreed standards.

Proper documentation of the success stories and best practices is done regularly.

Monthly and quarterly reports are done timely.

Lessons learned are provided to inform improvement in the project.

Qualifications:  Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

The following knowledge, skills, and abilities may be acquired through a combination of formal schooling, self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training.

Minimum education and experience required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry, Agroforestry, Community forestry, Agriculture or any other field related to the environment.
  • 2 years’ experience in community development work or any other related field.
  • Experience in agroforestry, forestry, agriculture, environmental protection, rural development, agriculture extension services.
  • Knowledge of written and spoken English and Kinyarwanda.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically up to 100% of the time.
  • Valid motorcycle driving permit (class A) and able to ride.

Preferred experience, technical skills & abilities:

  • Good understanding of the agriculture sector, agroforestry, natural resources management; cooperative management and entrepreneurship.
  • Familiar with recent rural development models such as FFS, VSLA, Value chain development, etc.
  • Proven skills in community mobilization and reporting.
  • Should be computer literate in word, excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of database utilization.
  • Experience in working collaboratively with farmers and other stakeholders specifically focusing on land restoration.

Salary:

The salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
