INVITATION TO TENDER

The Network of Women Working for Rural Development (Women’s Network) is a national non-governmental organization of public interest, created in 1986 and governed by Law No. 04/2012 of 02/17/2012 relating to the organization and operation of organizations national non-governmental organizations.

The Women’s Network since December 2022 in partnership with AMIE Canada, has been implementing the  “Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in Rwanda (SRHR-Rwanda) Project in all 15 sectors of the Gasabo District in the city of Kigali.

The project aims to achieve the following ultimate outcome: increased enjoyment of health-related human rights by the most marginalized and vulnerable rights holders, particularly women, adolescent girls and children. It will intervene at the level of: i) capacity building (training) in SRHR for community stakeholders and care providers and administrators identified within health establishments, ii) awareness raising among diverse groups of women, adolescents .es as well as awareness raising for the benefit of the general public; iii) improving the delivery of SRHR-related services to target groups. The project will be based in Gasabo District.

It is in this context that the Women’s Network would like to recruit staff for the position of midwife for the execution of this project .

Position Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Ensure a friendly welcome and create trust among beneficiaries of project services;
  2. Participate in the implementation of the National Policy on Family Planning and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in Rwanda;
  3. Carry out a prenatal consultation for pregnant women while respecting the national protocol
  4. Organize awareness sessions on family planning and help clients choose contraceptive methods compatible with their state of health
  5. Identify cases that require transfer to the gynecologist, nurse and psychologist and refer them 
  6. Design appropriate strategies to attract and support project beneficiaries;
  7. In collaboration with the gynecologist and the nurse, identify cases that require a transfer outside the center
  8. Create and maintain an attractive environment for beneficiaries of the SDSR project;
  9. Participate in awareness/mobilization campaigns at the community level to mark international days relating to sexual and reproductive health and rights, and women’s rights.
  10. Contribute to the data collection and compilation process and highlight the progress of the indicators and ensure the updating of the SDSR project database;
  11. Contribute to the publication and documentation of lessons learned, good practices and achievements of the SDSR project;
  12. Ensure proper management of center materials
  13. Prepare activity reports and produce a contribution to the project’s periodic reports.
  14. As a medical professional who is part of the healthcare team that takes care of clients during their stay at the center, carry out other tasks entrusted to them by their supervisor in relation to their skills 

Job Requirements

  • Possession of a university degree (A1) in Midwifery
  • 3 years of professional experience in the field of family planning, prenatal consultation and SRHR. Having experience in services related to sexual violence and gender-based violence will be a great asset.
  • Confidentiality, responsibility and autonomy;
  • Sensitivity to gender issues;
  • Experience in supporting victims based on gender and sexual violence is an asset;
  • Excellent communication, animation and interpersonal skills, teamwork and judgment and decision-making skills;
  • Have a valid Practice License given by the Council of Nurses and Midwives in Rwanda
  • Computer skills (Microsoft package);
  • Fluency in Kinyarwanda and written and oral French is required, fluency in English would be an additional asset.
