About Aflasight
Aflasight bridges the quality gap at the last mile of the maize value chain in Rwanda with the first high-capacity mechanical sorting operation able to remove aflatoxin-infected kernels once present. With maize quality improved, previously excluded suppliers can be re-connected with high-quality, high-value maize buyers. As a result, food- and feed- processors can procure high-quality maize locally, Rwandan’ food products can be made safely and aflatoxin-free, and local maize suppliers are able to gain a 15% income increase.

We are a social enterprise and have been operational since 2017, beginning initially as a domestic transport company transporting maize from Rwandan farms to local food processors.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage all daily operations including logistics and processing at AflaSight facilities
• Own and continually improve processing operations related to machinery
• Own machine upkeep and maintenance
• Hire, train, and manage the teams required for the facility and logistics operations
•  Ensure quality and safety standards are maintained at all times
•  Ensure security and daily maintenance of all equipment and machinery
•  Ensure full integration of data systems into operations to provide clear operating insights
•  Communicate any challenges to Managing Director to ensure quick resolution
•  Oversee set up of machinery, source and procure new machinery and equipment as needed in line with budget

Key Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Prior knowledge of agricultural operations equipment, including a Sortex machine ➢ Prior experience training team members on new machinery
• Experience implementing standard operating procedures
•  Willingness to be flexible and learn new technical and soft skills
• Attention to detail and highly organized;
• Desire to take initiative and tackle challenges;
• A Bachelor’s Degree and 4+ years of experience in a relevant field are strongly desired.

Required Experience

• Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and managing operational systems; ➢ Experience overseeing, managing, and reporting on complex projects;
•  Experience overseeing, managing, and recording a team of hired labor;
•  Fluent written and spoken English, Kinyarwanda, Swahili, and French a strong bonus; ➢ Comfortable with Office Suite or Google Docs, particularly Word/Docs and Excel/Sheets
