About the Role:

The primary responsibility of the Obstetrician and Gynecologist specialist will be the management of the sexual reproductive health needs of women within the project.   This will include examining women, diagnosing medical problems, and treating various illnesses and diseases.  They will also be responsible for the further development and implementation of relevant procedures and the performing of treatments required, during or immediately after a woman has given birth, in order to improve women’s reproductive health and to reduce pregnancy, delivery, and neonatology risks. This will be done in accordance with Save the Children policies, national protocols, and universal hygiene standards and in multidisciplinary collaboration with other medical doctors and midwife services.

Qualifications and experience

  • Master of Medicine with specialization in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from a recognized University.
  • Registered and licensed by Rwanda Medical and Dental Council.
  • At least 5 years post-graduate working experience.
  • Excellent written and spoken English/ French and Kinyarwanda.
  • IT knowledge and experience with computer applications.
  • Language skills in Kinyarwanda, Kirundi, English, and French.
  • Computer knowledge (Microsoft office, M.S Word, MS Excel)
  • Proven experience in performing both emergency and planned OB/GYN surgery.
  • TOT in Emonc and in FPPAC
  • Attention to detail, analytical and technical abilities, excellent manners, honesty.
  • Experience working in a humanitarian setting

CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

This position is on Child Safeguarding- Level 3:  The post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs. Or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.
