Terms of Reference for the recruitment of the Trainer/Teacher in Shoemaking

CONTEXT

The Mahama sector, one of the project intervention areas, is home to just over 127,000 according to UNHCR data as of 12/31/2021, including 72,049 aged 18-59. Most of these refugees are in a vulnerable situation due to very precarious socio-economic conditions. They face insufficient means of subsistence, limited access to employment, to the means of production as well as to vocational training that meets the current needs of the market.

This training aims to equip refugees and young Rwandans with the skills they need to be competitive in the job market; which will allow them to earn income allowing them to meet their basic needs independently.

OBJECTIVE OF THE SERVICE

The training aims to restore dignity to young men and women refugees as well as Rwandans, to promote their inclusion within the local communities where they are established through joint professional and entrepreneurial training activities aimed at their empowerment as well as the improvement their social and financial security.

EXPECTED RESULTS

The training will have an impact on young people trained in different trades who will acquire the skills required by the labor market, which will facilitate their access to paid employment. Employment will allow them to earn income and thus improve their living conditions.

TRADES TO TEACH AND TRAINING CENTERS

Giriteka TVET School: Mahama Sector, Kirehe District. Eastern Province

THE DURATION OF IMPLEMENTATION

The training will last 6 months followed by two months of internship.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Trainers/Teachers will have the following tasks and responsibilities:

  • Design and develop training tools such as ( lesson plan ,  scheme of work ,  School  time table ) based on programs as designed and published by RWANDA TVET BOARD (RTB);
  • Design and prepare all the materials to be distributed during the training;
  • Put the learners in a situation to do (practical support);
  • Regularly assess learners

 WORK LANGUAGE

The language of instruction and reports will be English  but the facilitation of the training will require a mix of three languages, i.e. English, French and Kinyarwanda/Kirundi

PROFILE OF TRAINERS/TEACHERS

Knowledge and experience

The Shoemaker

  • A Diploma/Certificate of minimum level A1 or A2 in shoemaking or a similar discipline
  • Experience in teaching trades for at least 3 years (for level A1 and 5 years (for level A2)
  • Speak, write and read English fluently
  • Perfect knowledge of French would be an asset
