Survey Apprentice at Bridges to Prosperity
Bridges to Prosperity (B2P) is an international non-governmental organization that specializes in the design and construction of pedestrian footbridges. We are looking for a Survey Apprentice. The Survey Apprentice helps the Design Engineer carrying out site surveys at identified project sites, processing the gathered survey information and planning the weekly survey schedule. The position is located within a program country and only works within the program.
Responsibilities
Bridge Site Surveys
Gather in advance needs assessment data regarding sites to be surveyed
Gather local contact information regarding sites to be surveyed
Contact local government and community leaders before each survey
Support Design Engineer during technical survey
Make sure enough survey markers are installed at each surveyed site
Use survey equipment when needed
Support design engineer during geotechnical tests at survey sites
Process survey information and upload it to online storage platform
Qualifications
Familiarity with surveying and use of surveying equipment
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
Proficiency in AutoCAD drafting
Exceptional, professional, and details-oriented organizational skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high problem-solving skills
Capable of working with different cultures and languages
Ability to work independently after given clear direction
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Kinyarwanda
Creative, energetic, and self-motivated
Location
The position is based in within the program country and will require a consistent amount of time traveling to potential bridge sites primarily out of Kigali.
The position may require participation in construction related tasks when traveling to Bridges to Prosperity’s projects. Execution of prospective site surveys may require working in undeveloped locations without paths or river crossings.
