Job Description


TERMS OF REFERENCES FOR THE RECRUITMENT OF TWO TRAINERS .     

Life Wounds Healing Association (LIWOHA) is a Local Non-Governmental Organization, located in Kimironko in the city of Kigali, accredited and registered with the RGB: registration N° 84 / RGB / NGO / 2016. It intervenes in the community by fighting against the domestic, sexual and gender-based violence, and uses the Community Psychosocial Approach to heal the resulting wounds and those of life in general. 

In this said project entitled ” Community psychosocial support for women and communities victims of domestic and sexual violence  “, LIWOHA would like to recruit two Trainers

Under the supervision of the hierarchical authority of the Training Manager and the Director; The trainer will assume the following responsibilities:  

  • Participate as trainers in the planning, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of the activities of the project ” Community psychosocial support for women and communities victims of domestic and sexual violence  “;   
  • Prepare modules and deliver field training 
  • Ensure the monitoring and evaluation of the training provided and ensure that regular quality reports are provided on time;   
  • Ensure that the work of the field psychosocial animator, community relays and leaders of solidarity groups is in accordance with the organization’s code of ethics, respects the quality standards of the community psychosocial approach and contributes effectively to LIWOHA project and mission goals 
  • Identify among the beneficiaries of its activities, people in need of special attention and individual care, and ensure that they benefit from the necessary care available on site or are directed to the appropriate services if this is necessary 
  • Maintain and develop good relations with local public authorities and other local leaders for the smooth running of the project;
  • Participate, to the extent of the means made available, in the life of the communities covered by LIWOHA’s intervention, to become better acquainted with them and know their needs and problems;
  • Participate in meetings organized by local authorities that affect its field of intervention and make known the mission, objectives and intervention methods of LIWOHA in the environment of its intervention. ;   
  • Propose a local implementation strategy according to the specific context and supervise its implementation once validated.
  • Be the direct contact person and representative of LIWOHA at Sector and District levels, both for local authorities and other institutions
  • Always keep the LIWOHA coordination team informed of the progress and challenges of operational strategies,
  • Ensure that key operational information flows correctly between community relays, field team, professionals and LIWOHA hierarchy
  • Participate in meetings and other relevant gatherings organized by LIWOHA key partners.  
  • Perform any other tasks requested by the hierarchy in relation to the success of the aforementioned project and other related projects.

CHARACTERISTICS OF EMPOLI: 

It is a full time position. The trainers will be based one in Mageragere Sector, Nyarugenge District and the other in Mbazi/Ruhashya Sector, Huye District.

Confirmation of employment will be after six months of probation. After this period, the trainers will receive a one-year contract renewable depending on the availability of funding paying their salary.

REQUIRED SKILLS.  

  1. Skills related to the care of people and groups in difficulty
  2. Have a good experience in the individual psychological care of people in difficulty (e.g.: traumatized people, victims of sexual and gender-based violence – VSBGs, genocide survivors, people affected by incurable diseases, etc.)
  3. Have a good experience in the community psychosocial care of homogeneous or heterogeneous groups in difficulty (eg: traumatized people, victims of SGBV, genocide survivors, people affected by incurable diseases…….)
  4. Have benefited from awareness and community healing workshops on the wounds of life (awareness, mourning, management of feelings, forgiveness and reconciliation, life project) and witness the changes brought about by these workshops in their own life and in their relationship with the others would be an asset.
  5. Having successfully facilitated community awareness and healing workshops (awareness, bereavement, management of feelings, forgiveness and reconciliation, life project) and witnessing the changes brought about by these workshops in the lives of the groups trained would be an asset 
  6. Having similar experiences at, point, 3 and 4 in similar projects for the care of vulnerable people and groups would be an asset to mention in the submission of the application.  

Project management skills 

  1. Have participated as a manager or professional in the conception, design and writing of similar projects funded by external partners; 
  2. Have been responsible for the implementation of similar projects and be able to correctly link the project activities and the corresponding budget lines;  
  3. Have sufficient writing and communication skills to write quality narrative and financial reports;  
  4. Have sufficient professional skills to monitor field activities and if necessary to participate in the external evaluation of the project. 

Skills related to the mastery of the context and public policies related to its field of intervention 

  1. Have skills to link project objectives and activities to national policies and strategies guiding government action in the area of ​​intervention  
  2. Have been involved in a successful experience of mobilizing community members to join a new initiative to fight against domestic and sexual violence 
  3. Having been successfully involved in the implementation of a project involving working with a diversity of actors from various institutions that do not necessarily have hierarchical links (eg grassroots authorities, churches, NGOs, civil society) would be an advantage 

Human and communication skills

  1. Be honest, reliable and work with probity and professionalism 
  2. Listening to others and able to peacefully transform conflicts that arise at work and in community life;   
  3. Adhere to the organization’s code of ethics
  4. Very good command of French, Kinyarwanda and English (written and spoken).  

 QUALIFICATION ET EXPERIENCE

  1. Be of Rwandan nationality 
  2. Have an A0 level university degree in fields that affect the mental health of vulnerable individuals and communities (clinical psychology, sociology, social work, psychiatric nurses, etc.) 
  3. Have at least 3 years of experience relating to the four areas of expertise defined above (support for vulnerable people and groups, project management and context analysis, human quality facilitating work with others).
