About OffGridBox:

OffGridBox, Inc., is an international company with Headquarters in the USA, manufacturing in Italy, and a subsidiary company in Rwanda that produces electricity and clean water through our OffGridBox^TM, a solar-powered 2m x 2m x 2m box with water purification technology inside.

In Rwanda, we work with a team of women who produce our water, which we sell under the Ayacu^TM brand. Our OffGridBoxes are 100% women-led, and we are now looking for a woman to step into our leadership team. We aim to do well by doing good, fighting climate change, poverty, and overpopulation by providing clean power, connectivity, and high-quality water.

About the Position:

We now have 18 boxes across the country, 12 of which are operated by women whom we call our BoxKeepers. Our BoxKeepers play both technical and business roles. On the technical side, they are solely responsible for water production and power bank recharging. On the customer side, they manage daily orders, provide customer care, and do community outreach.

The Production Manager is responsible for the quality and daily production of purified water produced and sold from our OffGridBoxes and shall spend at least 50% of her time in field. Ensuring quality of water goes hand-in-hand with managing BoxKeepers and compliance monitoring.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree, ideally in Food or Water Safety
• Fluency in English and Kinyarwanda
• Able to extensively travel across the country for fieldwork by moto or bus, including through village environments
• Strong Management and Training Experience of remote teams
• Computer Skills in preparing documents, spreadsheets, and presentations

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Box Management:

• Select, Vet, and Train BoxKeepers in Production, Bottling, and all daily operations at the Bottling Facility
• Supervise 15 pairs of BoxKeepers in the production and bottling of purified water and ensuring BoxKeepers are following the bottling work instructions and hygiene rules
• Ensure BoxKeepers are properly fulfilling their Box Management and Daily Reporting responsibilities (see “About the BoxKeepers” on the next page)
• Oversee and Support BoxKeepers to ensure they are delivering quality water and energy service

 Compliance:

• Ensure the sanitary conditions and hygiene of the staff, equipment, and working environment for the production of purified water are compliant with Rwanda Government Standards
• Improve and/or further develop the working instructions according to the needs found in the facilities and any changing regulation or production process
• Check and report weekly on the operating status of the equipment and that the program for maintenance of the production equipment is in order
• Coordinate for the processes and procedure to assure product quality
• Submit and follow-up on all the required documents and reports to governmental institutions such as FDA and RSB in charge of the authorization and licensing
• Manage ongoing water analysis of water sources and purified water from the OffGridBox to ensure compliance with East African Standards for

About the BoxKeepers:

The Production Manager is responsible for managing the BoxKeepers and ensuring every OffGridBox^TM system’s success, thus it’s very important to know their responsibilities and who they are.

Role Responsibilities

Production-related responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Box Management:

• Open, Close, and Clean the OffGridBox each day
• Oversee the security of the box, checking the presence and reliability of the Guard
• Manage all the stock and keep track of all movement in and out of the stock room both on the stock record cards and on the
• Register new customers in the smartphone app and log each refill
• Deposit revenues to the appropriate account each week and in accordance to

 Production of Water:

• Follow hygienic
• Conduct Water System Ordinary Maintenance, request Extraordinary Maintenance, and keep the Register in order and updated
• Produce and bottle water according to sales orders
• Refill water for customers and log each refill

 Daily Reporting

• Fill out sales orders on the app
• Fill out the daily report, including
  • Daily Revenues
  • Daily Expenses, if any
  • Photos of the meters (water and energy)
  • Procurement Needs (with 3 days advance)
