About the Role:

The Operating Theatre Nurse will organize and carry out all nursing activities related to the operating theatre (OT) running, according to Save the Children’s health protocols, universal hygienic standards, and in coordination with the surgeon and anesthetist, in order to ensure smooth functioning of the surgical activities (pre, during and post-operative care) offered to patients.

Qualifications and experience

  • At least an Advanced diploma (A1) in Nursing  graduated from a recognized university
  • Valid license to practice issued by the professional council in Rwanda
  • 5 Years’ experience in Hospital  settings, with at least three years, experience working as a Perioperative nurse
  • Training in  Perioperative Nursing will be an added advantage
  • Comprehensive knowledge and skills in information technologies, and records keeping in health facilities.
  • Strong background in medical or nursing care process, and or health informatics.
  • Excellent liaison abilities and good communication skills (French, Kinyarwanda, and English preferred).
  • Computer knowledge (Microsoft office, M.S Word, MS Excel)
  • Attention to detail, analytical and technical abilities, excellent manners, honesty.
  • Training in Perioperative nursing care, voluntary circumcision
  • Sharp knowledge and skills in medical and surgical nursing care process.
  • Proven experience in the Operative room and sterilization of surgical instruments.

CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

This position is on Child Safeguarding- Level 3:  The post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs. Or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.
