I. Position Information

Migration and Health Awareness Raising and Communications Junior Consultant

II. Context:

Under the direct supervision of the Migration and Health Officer in close coordination with the Migration and Health Unit and the EVD Project Officer, the candidate will support and assist in the daily implementation of the activities under the MHD projects and portfolio with particular focus on the production of awareness-raising and communication material.

III. Core Functions / Responsibilities:

1.Support production of relevant communication, social media, awareness-raising and visibility materials on the MHD activities according to the donor and IOM rules;

2.Support the production, purchasing and distribution of eventual Awareness Raising and communication material on COVID19, EVD, and other diseases;

3. Assist MHD in the implementation of the projects according to the work plans, facilitating the timely achievement of project activities and results as specified in the project documents.

4. Assist in the preparation of narrative reports as well as flow monitoring reports in accordance with donor’s requirements, IOM regulations, and established procedures and deadlines.

5. Participate, as needed, in regular meetings on COVID19, EVD and other related subjects at a country level and assist in the organization of coordination meetings with projects’ partners and stakeholders.

6. Assist with logistic and administrative organization of MHD capacity building activities (i.e. training), awareness-raising sessions and population mobility mapping meetings, as specified in the projects’ workplans.

7. Undertake duty travels within Rwanda related to projects activities as required.

8. Perform any other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

IV. Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • University degree in Communication, International Relations, Development, Law, Political or Social Sciences, Public Health or a related field from an accredited academic institution with 1 year of relevant professional experience;

Experience

  • Familiarity with migration-related topics and IOM work;
  • Mature individual, able to work independently, effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds at all levels.
  • Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs);
  • Information management and communication skills;
  • Organizational and administrative skills;
  • Previous working experience with UN or other relevant international organizations, NGO, government institutions would be an advantage;
  • Knowledge of national and regional issues in the thematic area is a distinct advantage;
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and in the creation of eye-catching visual material/reports; and
  • Experience in working in Rwanda and within the One UN system in the country would be a distinct advantage.

The appointment is subject to funding confirmation.

Appointment will be subject to certification that the candidate is medically fit for appointment, accreditation, any residency or visa requirements, and security clearances.
