Job Title: Food Scientist Interns (Internee)

Location: Mayange Sector- Bugesera District-Eastern Province
Duration: 6 months (with possibility of extension)
Start Date: 01/11/2025
Department: Research & Development / Quality Assurance / Production

Position Overview

We are looking for motivated and passionate Food Science Interns to join our team. The internship offers hands-on experience in product formulation, quality analysis, food safety control, and research & development (R&D). Successful candidates will gain exposure to real-world food industry operations and participate in ongoing projects under professional supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and testing of new food products.
  • Conduct laboratory analysis for quality control (moisture, fat, pH, microbial load, etc.).
  • Support sensory evaluation panels and data collection.
  • Participate in food safety and hygiene audits and documentation.
  • Assist in production process monitoring to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Contribute to research projects, report writing, and sample preparation.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety protocols in the lab and production areas.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, or related field.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety (HACCP, ISO 22000) and laboratory techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and time management skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with product formulation or sensory testing.
  • Familiarity with industrial food processing equipment.
  • Interest in nutrition, food innovation, or sustainability.
