As part of the implementation of the Project:  ”  Strengthening Access to Justice in the Great Lakes Region/Uhaki Bila Mipaka”  in consortium with International Alert Rwanda and Ipeace,  Pole Institute  :  Intercultural Institute in the Great Lakes Region,  a Congolese non-governmental organization under Swiss law working in peace building, is seeking to recruit staff for the implementation of its activities in Rubavu and Rusizi in Rwanda:

Job Description for the Financial Assistant

Reporting to the Financial Director, the Financial Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Analyze accounting operations;
  • Establish the pay situation of agents’ salaries;
  • Establish different budgets related to the project and do the planning;
  • Produce financial reports from the financial statements at regular intervals and in accordance with the requirements of the funder and Pole Institute bodies;
  • Submit Pole Institute’s accounts for verification and certification to the auditor;
  • Report the financial and accounting situation to the coordinator and the financial director;
  • Submit audit, financial and narrative reports to the finance department on time;
  • Develop and effectively manage the financial resources of Pole Institute;
  • Carry out any other work requested by the coordination.

Required qualifications and skills

  • Be of Rwandan nationality;
  • Have a bachelor’s degree in business and financial sciences / or economics;
  • Have at least 2 years of experience in the field of finance;
  • Have a mastery of the functioning of the tax system for INGOs in Rwanda;
  • Technological aptitude: have mastery of IT tools (QUICKBOOKS, Excel and Ms World) and know how to use the internet.

Qualifications required for both positions

  • Communication: Excellent writing skills in French and English; oral skills in French, English and Kinyarwanda;
  • Planning and organizing: Demonstrate the ability to plan and organize work; Be honest, objective and impartial in judgment;
  • Teamwork: Ability to interact, establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and superiors, maintaining good working relationships, respecting diversity. Ability, as a member of a team, to work independently, pragmatically and under constant pressure.
  • Leadership: Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
