CAREER OPPORTUNITY

LuNa Smelter Ltd is Rwanda’s established tin smelter in Kigali Rwanda. As part of its optimization and localization plans the company is recruiting professionals to fully optimize its production capacity and hence cater to the country’s growing demand for the mining sector, and that of the region.

LuNa Smelter Ltd is looking for experienced professionals to fill the following vacancies;

  1. Environment, CSR and OHS Officer

Reporting to: Field Operations Manager

Requirements

  • University Degree in Environmental engineering or environmental management or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety
  • Minimum 2 years of experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication and organizational skills
  • Fluent in written and spoken English

Specific roles and responsibilities

  • Conduct field surveys, collect data, carry out lab tests on water and soil samples;
  • Interpret data and identify whether contamination exists in accordance with environmental laws and regulations;
  • Build conceptual models that identify the potential contaminant sources that could have an adverse impact on the environment;
  • preparing reports or presentations based on findings;
  • Devising plans to minimize or fix environmental problems as such land or water pollution;
  • Identify hazards and toxic materials within Brownfields;
  • Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices for compliance with corporate and government health and safety standards and regulations;
  • Design and implement workplace processes and procedures that help protect workers from potentially hazardous work conditions;
  • Investigate accidents and incidents to identify their causes and to determine how they might be prevented in the future;
  • Conduct training on a variety of topics such as emergency preparedness;
  • formulate and execute proactive CSR strategy;

Plan, organize, implement and follow-up on Corporate Social Responsibilities initiatives of the company;
