VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT: Economic Empowerment Assistant

Women for Women Rwanda (WfW-Rwanda) is a non-for-profit national NGO legally established in December 2020. The organization recently transitioned from Women for Women International (WfWI) that had been operating in Rwanda since 1997. Its mission seeks to support women and girls in Rwanda to break the vicious circle of poverty and social exclusion, by enabling them to become socially and economically capable to lead themselves and their community to better health, education, and social conditions.

Women for Women is currently seeking for a qualified trainer to work as economic empowerment Assistant to support its CORE (socio-economic integrated program) for women and adolescent girls in four districts (Kayonza, Rwamagana, Bugesera, Kicukiro, Gasabo and Bugesera).

JOB PROFILE

JOB TITLE: ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT ASSISTANT

TEAM/PROGRAM: EE TEAM

LOCATION: HQ Kigali

GRADE:  4

CONTRACT LENGTH: 2 years renewable with a probation period of 3 months

PURPOSE:

The EE Assistant will prepare and conduct training on literacy, numeracy, business skills and make follow up on individual participants to ensure that the acquired knowledge is applied in their lives.

Reports to: EE Officer.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and conduct the literacy, numeracy, business skills training to women participants and adolescent girls as per elaborated EE curriculum and WfW-Rwanda objectives
  • Carry out regular Program participant’s assessment after training
  • Provide guidance to women participants in starting and expanding their businesses
  • Maintain roll calls for program participants
  • Collect impact stories and field data and submit periodic reports to the supervisor
  • Participate in developing curriculum for chosen technical EE skills.
  • Be responsible for training materials and organizational assets and report any challenge during and after training
  • Plan and conduct home visits and document training impact on women’s life
  • Maintain good relationship with grass roots leaders on the training sites
  • Provide relevant referrals to program participants
  • Ensure a prompt report to his/her supervisor of any issue identified in the field
  • Maintain good work relationship with the WfW-Rwanda staff as well as program participants
  • Comply to the organization safe guarding policy
  • To perform any other duty assigned by his/her supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in business skills, development studies, social or economic science or any other relevant field or a diploma with 7 years of experience in similar domain
  • At least 3 years relevant work experience.
  • Good inter-personal skills and ability to work in a team.
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet and professional manner.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Knowledge and experience in training and community facilitation
  • Having the experience in providing training of women and girls in the Rwandan context
  • Having knowledge of gender mainstreaming programming
  • Fluency in English and Kinyarwanda required (reading, writing and speaking); French language skills an added advantage.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Email.
