II. Organizational Context and Scope

Under the direct supervision of the Programme Support Coordinator, the Intern will perform the following tasks within the Programme Support Unit:

III. Responsibilities and Accountabilities

1. Provide support in ensuring visibility to the IOM Rwanda ongoing programs by attending and organizing field visits and drafting and editing eye-catching visibility materials, press releases, newsletters, daily social media contents on all the IOM Rwanda official profiles and channels.

2. In coordination with the Senior Regional Project Manager of the EU project:

  1. support in developing the project’s communication and visibility materials, including factsheets, newsletters, social media messages, press releases, activity briefs, photo album, short messages and other materials for display.
  2. assist in planning and organizing project events and receiving feedback from officials, cross border traders, border communities, project partners and other stakeholders on activities to support the design of migration-related communication and visibility actions.
  3. Provide support in implementing the One UN new communication strategy, in attending the UNCG meetings, complying with the related assignments and deadlines.
  4. Provide support in compiling IOM and One UN questionnaires and surveys and in filling the UNINFO platform with IOM Rwanda activities and results.
  5. Provide support in organizing coordination calls and/ or meetings with IOM offices, UN agencies and stakeholders to facilitate communication processes.
  6. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Education

University degree in social sciences, international relations, communication for development and/or related

Experience
  • Minimum of 6 months’ work experience and a good track record of skills and knowledge development.

V. Languages

Required

Advantageous

Fluency in English is required.

Working knowledge of French can be an advantage.

Notes

Eligibility and Selection

Applicants to IOM internships must, at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements:

a) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or

b) Be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or

c)   I have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within one year of graduation.

Depending on experience and location, IOM provides a small monthly stipend to help offset costs.
